Energy is a critical enabler of economic prosperity, sustainable development, and societal health.
In the past decade, the energy industry has made some strides to build more sustainable energy
systems geared towards environmentally friendly society.
However, recent global and geopolitical events have highlighted the need to ensure uninterrupted,
affordable, and accessible energy for human activities. Therefore, it has become pertinent and
absolutely necessary to find technical and smarter ways to reduce our carbon footprint while, at
the same time, expanding and diversifying our energy sources.
Striking the right balance between energy security and sustainability is thus critical for the industry.
This we hope to digest as we converge.
This symposium program will feature discussions on the ways forward by addressing the current challenges
and opportunities in the industry and the need to develop solutions that enable secure and sustainable energy

The current climate crisis is the most crucial challenge of our time and nations have a key role in driving the change to a decarbonized economy. Recently, Nigeria released its Energy Transition Plan (ETP) to achieve the net zero emissions target that was announced at COP26. To achieve net zero emissions, we need radically new and achievable solutions that can address the current challenges in the energy transition in Nigeria.

Meet and Interact With Potential Employers and Indusry Professionals Across Different Fields
Unemployment is one of the biggest problems facing Nigeria and is negatively affecting Nigerian youths, in particular. Therefore, it is timely to organize a symposium that incorporates skill building, knowledge sharing, networking, and a career fair. The 2023 SPE Young Professionals Symposium aims to provide an excellent opportunity for young graduates and job seekers to learn about different career options, network with potential employers, and increase their chances of getting hired. An array of prolific companies will be present during the symposium to participate in the career fair.
